roughage production

We expanded our cooperative's production area by starting our roughage production activities for the first time in 2024. We produce straw, alfalfa, and silage forage crops to support the sustainability of livestock farming in the region. We adopt a production model that is adaptable to climate change and conserves water and soil, focusing especially on drought-resistant forage crops.

barley and wheat

Our cooperative also produces barley and wheat to support roughage production. These products are used both as grain and, after harvest, as roughage using their stalks and straw. Thus, every stage of the product obtained in the field is utilized to contribute to livestock farming. The use of barley and wheat as roughage increases feed diversity, reduces producer costs, and supports sustainability in livestock farming. With this production model, our cooperative adopts a holistic and sustainable approach based on the efficient use of agricultural resources..

Silage

The fodder turnip (Lenox) and sorghum silages produced by our cooperative constitute an essential part of our climate change–adapted agricultural production approach. These two forage crops are of strategic importance for the sustainability of livestock farming, particularly in our region where water resources are becoming increasingly scarce.

Fodder turnip (Lenox) is a fast-growing, high-yield silage crop with strong nutritional value. Thanks to its low water requirement, it enables reliable production even under drought conditions. Its soil-friendly structure also contributes to the conservation of agricultural land. While meeting the need for high-quality roughage in animal nutrition, Lenox silage helps reduce production costs for producers. Sorghum silage is another forage crop distinguished by its resistance to drought and high temperatures. As a strong alternative to corn silage, sorghum contributes to the conservation of water resources due to its ability to grow with less water. With its deep root system, it makes more effective use of soil moisture and provides producers with a secure option against the adverse impacts of climate change. Through this production approach, we support livestock farming in the region while responsibly investing today in the agriculture of the future.

Bale

Bale production carried out within our cooperative is a key activity aimed at meeting the regular and reliable roughage needs of livestock farming in the region. Through the production of straw and alfalfa bales, forage crops are harvested at the appropriate time, their nutritional value is preserved, and they are safely stored for long-term use. Bale production facilitates the feed supply process for producers while ensuring continuity in livestock farming. This activity is a complementary component of our cooperative’s objective to support sustainable agriculture and livestock production.
